CEB Relief Services for the Flood-Affected Areas
The flood calamity that happened in some areas of the country created a perilous situation for the public and thus, CEB had to disconnect electricity to approximately 625,000 consumers in the flood-affected areas to ensure public safety. With the dedication and tireless efforts of the employees, CEB was able to clear electricity lines and re-establish connections of approximately 80% of the consumers.
CEB has announced the relief services for the flood-affected consumers. CEB has decided to replace the damaged electricity lines and meters free of charge, to provide free new electricity connections when the people whose houses have been completely destroyed are moved to new houses, to ignore the previous unpaid bills, to provide electricity free to the temporary dwelling places for 6 months with the use of 1-2 electric bulbs and a socket outlet and to provide a 6-month relief period for small business and industries to pay their bills in installments.
CEB has activated a special 24-hour hotline through which people in flood affected areas can inform CEB about electricity related emergencies and breakdowns. Public can reach CEB regarding electricity related emergencies in flood affected areas via telephone 0113030303.
CEB offices in Galle, Matara and Ratnapura were affected by flood and the grid sub-station in Matara has been severely damaged.
CEB assures to extend its best services in re-establishing electricity connections in the flood-affected areas as soon as possible.
