This report presents the Generation Expansion Planning Studies carried out by the Transmission and Generation Planning Branch of the Ceylon Electricity Board for the period 2022-2041. The Report also includes information on the existing generation system, generation planning methodology, system demand forecast and investment and implementation plans for the proposed projects and presents to the readers how CEB intends to take the power sector gradually towards a low carbon grid .
This Long Term Generation Expansion Plan 2022-2041 must be read in conjunction with the letter by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) dated 5th October 2021 (and attached as ANNEX 15) , granting approval to carry out development contained therein. As this LTGEP was prepared prior to the formal issuance of the revised government policy, the same would be captured in the next LTGEP to be submitted for the period 2023-2042.
